Richard Bishop is the founder and director of CRC Consulting, bringing decades of experience across UK and EU chemical regulation, occupational health and safety, major hazards and enforcement.
The former Head of Enforcement for HSE’s Chemicals Regulation Division (CRD), Richard created and led CRD’s inspectorate and represented the UK as a member and Chair of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) Enforcement Forum.
His background spans senior roles in government, industry, consultancy and academia, including Operations Director at Sagentia Regulatory Europe (formerly TSG Consulting), EH&S Director at Sterling Pharma Solutions, a COMAH upper‑tier pharmaceuticals manufacturer, and Lecturer on EH&S MSc programmes at the University of Sunderland.
Richard holds a degree in Law and a postgraduate diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. He’s known for providing clear, proportionate and defensible regulatory support grounded in real enforcement and compliance experience.
